Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Scientific Officer is responsible for defining and advancing a long-term scientific roadmap aligned with business priorities, while ensuring programs are executed with rigor, scalability, and measurable impact. The position oversees a broad scientific portfolio, including next-generation biological model systems and integrated computational approaches, with a focus on translating research into commercially relevant products, services, and partnerships.

The Chief Scientific Officer drives innovation across emerging areas such as advanced cell-based systems, organoid and organ-on-chip technologies, spatial biology, and in silico modeling. This role is accountable for identifying scientific gaps and opportunities, prioritizing investments, and determining the best path forward through internal development, partnerships, or external collaborations. The position also establishes best practices in scientific standards, reproducibility, and data integrity, while building an operating model that aligns research, development, and delivery functions. A key responsibility is scaling scientific infrastructure and ensuring programs progress efficiently from concept through application.

This executive also serves as a highly visible external scientific leader, representing the organization across academia, biopharma, government agencies, and industry networks. The role builds and maintains strategic relationships with key stakeholders and thought leaders, contributing to the organization’s reputation and influence within the broader scientific community. Internally, the Chief Scientific Officer partners with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to align scientific priorities with commercial strategy, ensuring scientific capabilities are translated into meaningful, scalable offerings.

Candidates should bring 15+ years of experience in life sciences, including leadership roles overseeing complex scientific teams and research programs in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or related environments. A PhD in a relevant scientific discipline is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate has demonstrated success building and scaling scientific organizations, leading innovation in both experimental and computational biology, and delivering applied or translational outcomes beyond academic settings. Experience with next-generation biological models, data-driven research environments, and cross-functional collaboration is essential, along with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and operate effectively in dynamic, high-growth environments. Strong communication skills, executive presence, and the ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on execution are critical for success in this role.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $325,000 to $375,000 annually. This range reflects a good faith estimate of compensation based on experience, qualifications, and the scope of the role at the time of hiring. This position includes a comprehensive benefits package with medical, dental, and vision coverage, retirement savings, and paid time off, as well as other compensation, including bonus opportunities. Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, market conditions, and the overall scope and responsibilities of the role at time of hire.
