A healthcare organization is seeking a Director of Operating Rooms to provide operational leadership for perioperative services across a main hospital campus and outpatient surgery center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This highly visible leadership role oversees 21 operating rooms, including 13 main ORs and 8 outpatient ORs, along with approximately 60 FTEs. The Director will be responsible for leading day-to-day operations, including operational oversight, staffing, workflow coordination, and management of daily add-on cases while driving operating room efficiency, throughput, and patient flow. This individual will work closely with surgeons, anesthesia, nursing leadership, and executive leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, patient-centered surgical care.


The Director will play a key role in strengthening collaboration across surgical services, supporting staff development, and fostering a high-performing team culture. Additional responsibilities include leading operational improvement initiatives focused on OR utilization, productivity, quality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance; participating in operational planning, budgeting, and resource allocation; supporting recruitment and retention efforts; and helping standardize operations across both surgical campuses. The position will also support strategic initiatives, including a planned Epic implementation.


Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, with a master's degree preferred, and hold a current RN license or be eligible for Pennsylvania licensure. Candidates should bring progressive perioperative leadership experience with significant involvement in the day-to-day operations of the operating room, physician collaboration, and complex surgical services. The ideal candidate will have experience improving OR efficiency and physician engagement, developing high-performing teams, supporting change initiatives, and building strong relationships across multidisciplinary stakeholders while maintaining a focus on operational excellence, patient care, and staff engagement.
